Project Brief:

The Municipality of Anchorage invites qualified artists to create public artwork proposals for the Department of Solid Waste Services' newly constructed Central Transfer Station. The Art Selection Jury intends to commission artwork to be permanently installed throughout the facility.

Location consists of four separate sites along the residential vehicle access route approaching the Residential Unloading Zone. These are exterior, landscaped areas with high visibility and vehicular traffic. Proposals should address all four sites and convey a narrative of circular economy and extended material life. Preference will be given to proposals incorporating or referencing recycled materials. Artwork should interact with the surrounding natural environment through responsive engagement with natural elements such as wind, rain, and sun. Pile foundations at each site can support static loads up to 4,000 pounds.
